Field of application for Pinch Valves

Pinch valves are used in analytical or medical technology applications, where the wetted parts of the components have to be exchanged after each sample in order to avoid carryover from one sample to the next. Other applications include devices designed for food handling. Due to the possibility of using food-certified tubes, the use of these valves in such devices is optimal for later approvals. In applications with larger particles, the pinch valves are also a good alternative to other valve types, because the fluidic path can be realised straight, which helps to avoid blockages and leaks.

Various selection of tubings in the valve series

The tubes available for such applications include various types of silicone tubes, resistant tubes such as Pharmed® or Tygon, which are available in different versions. They can be used with different valve types depending on shore hardness. An overview and further information about the tube types can be found in the category tubes.

Different pinch valve types in the series

The various series of pinch valves cover a wide range of tube sizes - from 0.8mm inner diameter to 13.0mm, depending on model and valve type. Within the valve series, there are specific models that are matched to the maximum pressure in the system, the tube material and the tube size. It is also possible to optimise the valves specifically for your applications and thus adapt the squeezing behaviour to your tubes and your specifications - all we need is a short sample of the tube used in your application. Further information of the valve technology can be found in our technical documentation.

Several series are available as 2-way valve versions in normally closed (NC) and normally open (NO) versions as well as 3-way versions. Details can be found in the individual series. In the standard version the pinch valves are controlled by a solenoid actuator, but it is also possible to control various valve series pneumatically - if you are interested, please contact us. We will be happy to advise you.

For valve series for smaller tube sizes, the valve heads are also available in a side-open version, which means that the tube can be easily inserted from the side. Valves for larger hose diameters must be pulled through. In addition, with some valve series it is possible to operate the pinch mechanism manually, which enables the insertion of a tube in the normally closed part of the valve without switching on the device electrically.

For mobile applications or applications where heat generation has to be avoided by longer valve actuations, the latching solenoid valve versions of the pinch valves are the right choice. The position of the valves can be changed by a short impulse. The valves then hold their position without further energy supply - this reduces energy consumption and heat generation to a minimum. Further information can be found on the page of our technical documentation on latching solenoid valves.
